It is a sacred tradition that has been used by Native Americans and in Spanish cultures by elders for centuries. A native tradition is to burn certain herbs for clearing old, negative and stagnate energy by using the smoke from the herbs to rub or brush over the body and throughout your physical space. Burn the leaves as smudge to purify spaces and to clear heavy or dark energies from people. It is also used for spiritual cleansing/ removing negative energy and harmonizing a space like a home or office. Crush the leaves and add them to herbal smoking mixes to help clear mucus from the lungs.
